Pattern and color define our aesthetics here at Windsor Place Antiques….minimalists we are not! Summer is still in full swing, but with Fall just around the corner, we’re starting to think about richer and denser colors, patterns and textures. We’ve got some new and restocked merchandise in the shop that feels perfect for the season.
One of my favorite sources of inspiration is India with its ancient tradition of hand block printing and beautiful use of vibrant color. We have some lovely 1970s made in India “new old stock” silk scarves. At only $8 each you can add a few to your fall wardrobe.
In the home decorating department, we have more Grammar of Ornament prints in stock, matted and ready for framing.
With so many to choose from- the patterns from India and Persia are among my favorites.
We also have some new chromolithographic plates in the same vein. Published in 1883, the plates from Ornamentenschatz. Ein Musterbuch stilvoller Ornamente aus allen Kunstepochen by Dolmetsch, Heinrich are a bit darker and more baroque in appearance than the ones from Grammar of Ornament. The detail and richness of color is impressive.
My friend Cindy Fazio recently sent me a photo of two Grammar of Ornament prints purchased and matted here. She framed them in simple white 12×16 frames and added two adorable pups to the assemblage. Thank you for sharing- We love seeing our prints up on your walls.
