While scouring a country flea this past weekend, I spotted this great dog/pet house made from an old steamer trunk. Thought it was a brilliant idea- just cut a door and throw in a bed or cushion. These trunks are relatively inexpensive and easy to come by. In fact, I have several lying around….if I only had a dog.

Fascinating Antique Anatomical Illustrations
While perusing the NYTImes Home section a few weeks ago, I admired the Catskills farmhouse and collections of artist and antique shop owner Sean Scherer. In this photo, taken from the NYTimes site, you can see a framed illustration (at the the top) of the head, skull and brains. I have some very similar lift-the-flap anatomical illustrations culled from 100 year old medical textbooks. I will be bringing them to the flea over the next few weeks. They can be dismantled and matted as you see in the photo. I have several different ones to choose from- some depict the internal organs, eyes and ears. They have to be seen in person to be appreciated- they are amazing in their detail, color and design.
