Frohse Anatomical Charts

I seem to have anatomy on the brain. Here are a few large and amazingly detailed teaching charts that I have for sale.

Published by AJ. Nystrom & Co. Chicago 1918-1922. American Frohse Anatomical were originally done by Franz Frohse (University of Berlin) @ 1910 they were revised by Max Brodel (John Hopkins University) and copywrited from 1918 thru 1948.

When published their richness of chromolithographic tone, led many to consider them to be the finest such charts in the world, far surpassing today’s rather flatter images. The image size is 66 x 41 1/2 ”, mounted on original linen 79 x 41 1/2”.

Anatomical Ephemera

I am ever-fascinated by anatomical ephemera- constantly buying and searching through old medical texts. I am not alone. Here is a link to an interesting french ephemera site with a wonderful archive of anatomical material- some of it American and in my collection as well- some European.

Here are some photos from a text that I just found today in my wanderings upstate:

Pull Down School Maps from the ❝Land of Nod❞

    WallArt_PullDownMap_Full_0611

Click here to see the brand new school maps that Land of Nod is selling for $249. These do make truly great and stimulating room decor for children, and they can economically cover an unsightly bare wall.

Grown-ups enjoy them as well and can feel free to be creative with a relatively inexpensive map. Some people put pins in the places that they have been or would like to go. One couple who bought a map from me was planning on throwing darts at it to choose the ethnic food that they would next eat. I also had an idea to personalize a map by embroidering a travel or immigration route directly on to the map with embroidery floss or yarn.

I have a quantity of school maps that I will be listing for sale on etsy. Below is an example. Many of these maps are only about 20 to 25 years old and in barely used condition. I will be selling them for $40 to $60 each.
