Dripping Wax and Vintage Vessels

IMG_0309

I have been having lots and lots of fun lately with magic drip color candles and vintage raffia wrapped wine bottles. I am reminded of the boho hippie style that was popular when I was (very) young. The tapestry in the background just seemed to go with them.

I was also reminded of some great candle displays that we saw on a recent trip to Valladolid, Mexico. All that wax looked so great on the old tequila barrel.

More Industrial Design

Adding on to my last blog post, I can't help but post photos of more of my favorite pages. I find this book endlessly fascinating as it explores the evolution of useful machines, apparel and objects. Of course, the book was published in 1886, so the technology is a bit dated.

The Growth of Industrial Art

It seems that whenever I am feeling jaded- like I have seen it all before, I come across something so new and exciting to me. This happened to me recently when I crossed paths with a falling apart- actually disintegrating- book published by the U.S. Department of Patents in 1886. The oversize book contains page after page of the history of industrial design. The pages are so graphic and informative. I would like to keep and frame them all, but I will have to bring myself to sell some. Below are a few of my favorites.
